Why do you mention me in your post? Over the years I have likely tried a dozen or so different apps. They all work somewhat and offer different features.
I am a big fan of Dish Pointer by augmented reality but that does not make it something we would argue over.

I have a really simple system for DirecTV HD reception that I use with our RV trailer. The hardware cost is around $120 and we take the HD receiver with us. Once I have assembled the parts at the campsite it takes less than 15 minutes to align the dish using a satellite finder app on my phone.
What is the "minnie" in your diagram? And yes, what cell phone app do you use?

Several other areas were confirmed by posters on this board.CA Traveler wrote:mt1729 wrote:Yes the rumors started after DTV made the announcement at a conference a number of years ago. And there are lists of local areas where DTV no longer transmits SD. In 2014 I could not get ABC SD for the winter Olympics in central OR which made the decision for me to switch to HD.
I'll believe it when I see it. If a Technician told me that I'd use a different technician. It has been rumored to happen now for the last five years. Hasn't happened yet.
And there are reliable posts on this board of recent letters from DTV to SD equipment users about the end of SD transmission in 2019.
If you have a clear shot at the satellite and still can't pick it up you have a problem. I have spent a little time in Oregon the last couple of years and haven't yet had a problem. However my cousin can't pick up a signal when his coach is facing north. Come to find out his air conditioner was blocking the dish.
Since then there has been a growing list of areas on Solid Signal as I recall.

May ask you what app are you using and does it require cell service to work.

DirecTV IS NOT dropping SD programming. DirecTV is dropping MPEG2 SD programming. It will still be broadcasting MPEG4 SD programming. So no need to throw anything away or spend a lot of money on new equipment just yet. Chuck
