I was going to use the Genie and get a new antenna for that. right now I have a HD system in the house and the SD in the RV, (still have an old CRT Sharp TV in the RV.

I think I will just upgrade to all new TVs and a Winegard Antenna.

I been there and done that. You need to get a SWM 8 (as I recall) switch and power inserter off of amazon and get it hooked up out at the 18" antenna.

That will give you the single wire into the Rv however there will be no HD.

I did not like that and decided to go whole hog. So I got the slimline 3 off Amazon with the power inserter you need for it. Had to get another tripod and mast since the slimline is larger diameter. I now just set the tilt and elevation and usually grab the satellite on the first swing thru.

both ways that I described will work with the genie.

Assuming you need a SWM system, you will need a power inserter and a three LNB SWM Slimline dish. The actual pointing is not that much more difficult than the 18" dish. You just have to make sure the mast is plumb and the skew and elevation is set correctly then rotate until your Genie sings.
