I have DirecTv in the stick house, using a Genie HDR model HR44 with 2 Genie clients in two other rooms. I'm going to have a Trav'ler dish put on the MH, so my question is can I move the Genie HR44 and one of the Genie clients for the 2nd TV in the MH? Assuming, of course, that everything is wired up correctly. Will any reprogramming be required when moving the equipment?Thanks for your input!

I will strongly recommend that you do not have a DVR type receiver in the MH/Trailer. The Hard Drive is not made to withstand the shocks that they will get on the road. If you definitely need to do it, then please buy a thick polyurethane foam (3/4" to 1") and put under them. Please also make sure they do not move laterally. My suggestion is to get a simple HD receiver and leave it on the MH/Trailer. You will have to pay an additional receiver fee. Just add a "kitchen" receiver to your account.

A DVR will work fine. Along with friends I also have a DVR in the coach since we bought it new in Feb 08. I know of no failures. Modern hard drives are drop (G) rated and seldom fail from shock unless its from an exceptional shock, like dropping it from a high place. We use the DVR during rest stops quite often when the antenna isn't needed.

I just disconnect the DVR and put it on the bed with my two monitors and TV. Throw a blanket over the whole mess and tuck it in. So far so good.

To answer your question, yes, you will be able to move the Genie and a client without issue. Just be sure your installer runs a new dedicated coax to each location from the antenna or the SWM splitter.As to the DVR "thing", I have had a DVR in my coach for about 10 years without issue (several DVRs as updates have been available). I now have a Genie and an H25 (watch 6 channels, record 5) which are still working without issue since I installed them last January (2013).

Do you have or know of anyone who has used a wireless C-41 client? While it is wireless "capable" the reports are they are not working properly and the recommended installation is still wired.

The new Genie clients are completely wifi. No wire required.
I too, have used DVRs for years without issue in the RV.

The "old" DirecTV Trav'ler has not been built for about a year now so any new Trav'ler would be the SK-SWM3 with the necessary SWM technology built in. The DirecTV clients are not currently working properly with a wireless option so each device in the home or RV should have a coax running to it.

My clients are not Wi-Fi, they are hard wired to the dish. I was curious if the network connection between them and the Genie will require anything special when moved to the MH.

I'd pin the installer down on which Trav'ler he is installing. I think you would want a Trav'ler SWM rather than a non-SWM 3005. A 3005 is not compatible with your HR-44 without an additional gizmo and $.

Are your clients Wi-Fi? If so, you won't need additional cable although to me wire is always better.

Thanks, Bill.Satellite, for answering my original question. My salesman/installer asked what equipment I had at home, and he suggested just use what I have, saying he would set it up so it would work. I just learned along time ago to not believe everything a salesman says.

I've hit some surprisingly rough roads so it's just become a habit, takes about 5 minutes to move it to the bed and the same to move it back. None are on swing mounts.
