- gatorcqExplorerBill, that is correct. My older KD will lock on a satellite that is not a Direct Satellite (Dish). The Green Led will lite up. I know that it is not on the Direct satellite because I set my receiver to the signal strength meter. No signal, green led = wrong satellite. So, i tell the KD to keep searching. When both my Direct receiver and the KD agree, then I am ok. Maybe some of the newer in motion KD units have a way to verify which satellite they are on. But I have not heard of a unit that will do it. Direct and Dish may use the same location (110), however the frequency/signal may have something imposed on it.

It was actually King Dome who pointed me in the right direction when I was trouble shooting one of their domes. I also believed that a signal would only show when pointed to the 101. They steered me right, I moved the antenna to the correct location and viola! TV. - 2oldmanExplorer II

thanks.
Later in the day I went back to his rig to make sure he was on the correct sat and he said when he got back from the laundry the television was working fine. Who knows.
If it's intermittent then I'll bet it's a connector or cable. - rhingstExplorerActually when he told me about this was in the morning and we were at the laundry. Later in the day I went back to his rig to make sure he was on the correct sat and he said when he got back from the laundry the television was working fine. Who knows.

- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIThat's actually not true. At least with DirecTV. You can be pointed at the wrong satellite and still show signal strength. I mentioned that specifically since I saw an incorrectly pointed antenna come up with signal strength reading on every other transponder. Never could figure out what satellite it was but it was about 20+ degrees left of where the correct satellite was located. Maybe 72 or 77?
- gatorcqExplorerSince the receiver is showing signals on the set. Then he is on the correct sat. Direct or Dish will not show up on the other's receiver set-top box.
Every other TP means ban LNB. I would log into my Direct TV account and and preform a re-authorization for the web site first - 2oldmanExplorer IIOP.. please let us know what it was. Thank you.
- sdianel_-acct_cExplorerIf you need to have it looked at and are in Livingston right now and don't mind an hour drive, go see Sats2Go (Dave) in Willis TX. He is the RV satellite "guru". Great service, reasonable prices. We stay at Rayford Crossing RV park in The Woodlands (Spring) TX. Headed that way now. 281-564-2828. www.sats2go.com
- sdianel_-acct_cExplorerOurs was bad LNB.
