Am I the only one having problems??
I had to disconnect service this am as I have to go home to a Family problem
It took 2 calls to get it stopped
& was told it will cost me $5.00 to restart?? is this something new??
It seems that no one knows about this account plan & how it is suppose to work?
Now when i go to my account and log in -message says to restart service I must phone in?? 800.333.3474 same # i used to put it on "free pause" which I was told I needed to disconnect --wish some where dish would publish the correct wording to stop & start service!
Could they make it harder??
Just needed to RANT
sorry Don

if Dish uses the terms differently, its No wonder its so confusing

when we disconnected somebody, we pulled the cable connection at the line on the pole, it was a permanent disconnect
IF service was reinstated, we climbed the pole to reconnect the cable

As someone noted above, I try to dazzle them with conversation. By that I mean, I tell them I have a PAYG plan and I want to disconnect my service because I'm back from camping and will not need it for awhile and want to restart it soon and I probably need to talk with a Loyalty Person, Yadda, Yadda Etc. Usually works. But I agree that the terms are strange. I initially used pause or break in service etc and had problems. A loyalty person told me of the disconnect term. However, Occasionally I will get calls asking me to come back to Dish. I politely tell them I never left and have to explain the PAYG plan to a Dish rep! Go figure.

suspend or pause, means to TEMPORARILIY stop service

disconnect means to end/remove service, no longer a customer

This is not correct in my experience over the past 4 years of using Pay-as-you-Go. Disconnect means to temporarily halt the service. Don't always rely on the CS Rep to know. The Loyalty person always knows what to do (or at least has for the past few years).

I always start the conversation that I have an RV Pay as you go account and want to talk to someone in the RV department. The instant someone says there is a fee for a service I insist on talking to someone who understands an RV Pay as you go account. You will get push back from a couple, though I have had very good luck with, CSR but do not let them do that to you.

When you want to stop your service without paying the $5 monthly fee ALWAYS state that you wish to DISCONNECT your service. This way your unused balance stays in your account. To restart your service you can go on line to "MY DISH" and pay the difference between your account balance and a months service charge and your service starts, or you can call DISH and do the same thing over the phone.

Don't have the Ph# right handy but there is a separate Ph# for the RV Pay-As-You-Go service. If you call the regular # you'll get service reps that have NO IDEA what RV pay as you go service is.

I have had Pay-as-you-Go for several years. I agree that they do not consistently know what to do when disconnecting service. Call back and ask to speak to someone in the "Loyalty Department". They are essentially the supervisors of the people you talk to initially. You do not have to pay to restart your service and, indeed, the balance of the month you have not used stays in your account. Mine does for months at a time without issues. There have been occasions when I called to "Disconnect" service that the CS person had no idea what I was saying. In that case I always ask to speak to someone in Loyalty and always get good service and have always gotten someone who understood English. Good luck.
