I think you've got that backwards... It's DirecTV that's running the "Get rid of cable" ads, not DISH.

Whichever. Could be. Its so bad that I change channel every time it comes on...

OK, I still like cable even if it cost more. I like my high-speed internet and telephone.

How well does that cable thing work for you in your RV? DISH works just fine here in mine. As does my Verizon based Internet and phone service. :W

I really like Direct but they keep creeping up on price so I'm a little perturbed at them at the moment.

You know... I have seen many folks talk about how one network or the other is better...

Yours is about the best reason I seen yet to make a choice. and in fact there are a few areas in my life where that is exactly how I choose myself.

I've had Dish at home since it first started, because I liked the lineup, and still do. I had a dome installed on my 'C' when I traveled, but found that I lost the signal in the northern latitudes or when pine trees blocked the signal. I also found that I stay in FHU parks with cable and WIFI when I'm on the road anyway, so I don't use the dome anymore, but its still up there because it covers the hole in the roof. Since I own the building where I store the MH, I had a dish installed there as well. All the comforts of home except a telephone (on purpose).

I prefer DISH for only one technical reason. Here in the northeast, they have the Eastern Arc set of satellites which are much higher in the sky for me. It makes it easier to aim when we're in a CG with lots of trees.

I chose DISH for two reasons. The two arcs offer more aiming opportunities, and their Pay-As-You-Go account lets us turn the service on and off pretty much at will.

We currently have Dish. We're moving in about 2 weeks. My parents currently have Direct. My Dish bill jumped another $5 this last month and had already jumped another $5 less than a year prior, so I feel like the rising prices is happening with both.

My deciding factor - I'm tired of my father calling and telling me to turn to channel XYZ to watch something and then I have to try to figure out what channel that is on my service. We're going to switch so that we match.

There was no clear one winner for me after comparing everything, so this seemed as good of reason as any to go with one. (Plus it would give them the $100 referral and us the $100 credit as well.)
