I have an older Toshiba laptop, running WXP, which gave me a lot of grief recently when I forgot the login password. I got it running but would like to eliminate the need for a password. I went to user accounts and found that I can change to another password, but how do I eliminate the need for using a password? Thanks...

Try just changing the user password to nulls. in the new password area, select anything there and hit delete. Otherwise, use blanks or spaces.

Do the same thing that you did but instead of entering a new password, leave it blank.

Look for "local security policy" under the "administrative tools". There will be an option there to disable or enable the password requirement.

On XP just set a blank password - nothing in box where you set the password.

I tried your suggestion. But there's no link for removing
the PW. There is only a link for changing the PW.Oh well, I can live with it.
