We woke up one morning to learn our Win10 ASUS Transformer Book was in the throes of the Win10AE (Anniversary Edition) "upgrade." It works OK, but we were camping and the process kept us from using the PC for a couple hours. AND it devoured our 6gB mobile data allowance...

But, all software applications we had, still work.

I gOOgled how to force my Laptop, a Win10 Acer, to upgrade to AE while I was at home and had 1tB to work with. I was able to do that, and again, all the programs work.

I HAVE had issues with things like touchpad drivers and had to go get new ones. So by extension, you might have to re-install the DRIVER(s) for some of your peripherals. Or do a complete peripheral INSTALL

Get a Mac book! Seriously, I have read nothing but complaints about win10 eating up bad width. My win7 laptop will be my last laptop. Tablets now days are so powerful it is almost silly to have a laptop.

Thanks for the quick replies.. I was able to roll it back to pre-anniversary edition and get things working again which makes DW happy... I am just worried that it will self install again..

Down load an install Never 10. It works! Have it on our 2 computers for about 6 month. No problem.

In Win/10 if you click your WIFI icon on the lower right task bar and scroll down to Network Settings you can then scroll down to Advanced Settings and set your Network to Metered Connection. Then it will only download when your connected to WIFI. Hope this helps!

I was able to restore the DW's machine to Windows 10 Home Build 1511 and all works fine..but then it again reinstalled version the updated version 1607 without asking and all went south again.. As before I restored it to previous 1511 build version and all is normal but only UNTIL it automatically installs build 1607 again in several days.. How can I stop this from happening??.. the computer is not using wifi for connection to home LAN.
