Freedompop

Some of you may be interested in this, shipping is slow.I have a phone with freedompop not the best but cheap.Link
  • Thanks 1492 I use mine for the apps, google maps a walking app asking google for directions ect. Did not know about the 911 calls.I have a samsung s3 from ebay. Had it for about one year, love the phone like the free service. But it is not for every one.
  • Just remember that Freedom Pop is VoIP service. Call quality is good if Sprint 4G LTE is available, but unusable for 3G data IMO. I have it on my Samsung Galaxy S3.

Emergency 911 calls use Sprint's mobile service, not VoIP. It assigns a temp non-regional phone number to the call, not your assigned FreedomPop number which can confuse 911 dispatchers. I had to use 911 to update Police to a location of a hit and run vehicle. The non-regional area code didn't match my contact phone no.

Checked it out, Good price, but...

You know how we keep saying Verizon has the best coverage of any service out there?

    (And AT&T is catching up)

Well if Verizon is the best,, this means there must be a worst as well right?

    Of the FOUR biggies
    Verizon
    AT*T
    T-Mobile
    Sprint/nextel (AKA no-tel)

Who do you think is the worst?

Right, I listed them in order (Sprint/Nextel)

What carrier does Freedom pop use?

Well if you have not by now guessed.. it is Sprint/nextel

So the odds of it working,, lowest of any phone out there.
