in the past - but *never* had that one with Google.
(And had used Google searches for years on this same laptop)
As one of the sites indicated - it just goes away by itself, which it did. (I have used Google since).
If it shows up again, I'll "bite" - and enter the req'd word.

I have never encountered a captcha with Google. But I am always logged into google so maybe that makes a difference.
