Hi all,
I am in the market for a GPS for my motorhome. I see that the Garmin does not have propane for one of the parameters and the Good Sam does. I have propane and for those who also have are you finding the Good Sam gps a better choice?
Thanks,
Stuart
The lack of routing for propane restrictions is a big problem for the Garmin RV 760. If you are traveling with propane on board it will route you on roads, bridges, and tunnels that prohibit propane and at the bridge or tunnel toll you will be stopped.
The Rand McNally RVND 7725 will route you around these restrictions as it has a setting to tell it you are carrying propane.
Now - we bought the Rand McN and the routing was terrible - and it routed us onto a road with a height restriction of 7'10" with the unit set to avoid ten feet or lower overpasses. This was dangerous and the unit was returned for this reason. Rand McN says they are fixing this with an update but I have no idea if they have and I would not buy another until I can test a unit with a known route to see if it goes the correct way. Garmin is good when it comes to routing - though all GPS units have their routing problems. But with an RV specific GPS it better avoid what needs to be avoided.
