I am looking at a house that the DISH will have to receive signal directly through the power lines.
If it is set up like ours, the Dish DVR connects to the router via the house power line so that it has an internet connection for ordering PPV movies and receiving viewing schedule updates. It uses this instead of a telephone. There is still an outdoor dish to receive the TV programming.
I thought he meant the dish has to aim through the power lines. I'm not sure that would work. - kellertx5erExplorer

Yup if you are talking "transmission" lines. All emit EMF's will affect computers and TV's. Stray voltage is the worst part of them.
They are supposed to ground them every 1/4 mile but do not. If they are near your home find out if they are grounded and if not make them do it.
Funny how a transmission tower can be anchored to the ground but not 'grounded'. Same with distributions poles. Sorry Rock, but ALL power poles and towers are grounded (unless a thief with a hatchet has cut the ground wire). Stray voltage/currents and EMF radiation can result from many factors other than grounding. - ncsczExplorer

and what about the Men that inspect the high voltage towers... from Helicopters and walk onto the tops of towers FROM Flying/Hovering ones.
The other forum that I follow had this video about tower inspections a few weeks ago. - SCVJeffExplorer

Why do you ask? Curiosity or problems?
Does anyone have experience with EMF interference on DISH TV and/or cellphone reception from high tension electrical wires ? - road-runnerExplorer IIII've seen that an unconnected fluorescent tube will light up when hand-held under the very high voltage wires.

Fear stems from lack of knowledge. - Chuck_thehammerExplorerreport the interference... may be a future problem for electric company.. Connection Issues.
