My old Nook died. They will not repair it and it was slowly loosing functions thru non-support, anyway. I have the app on my Eclipse 7, but the battery sucks. I also have the app on my phone, but that's hard to use.

Has anyone tried Nook's basic Glowlight? All I want to do with this thing is read.

Kindle. Go to project Gutenberg for free book downloads. I read lots of scifi from Amazon for $3.99 each. When I get tired of that, I read Marco Polo's Travels, The Art of War, Josephus, etc free from Gutenberg. Keep hoping my old kindle will crater so I can get a new paperwhite, but it just keeps going.

Another vote for the Kindle paperwhite- for just reading the e-ink display cannot be beat, easily held in one hand, while flipping pages with my thumb. Recharge every couple of weeks.

I love the Nook glow light. It is small, lightweight, and the battery lasts for 2 to 4 books! I much prefer no backlight but will turn it on occasionally. I prefer the Nook since I read mostly ePub either from the library or a free download (at bookbub you can sign up for a daily email for books by interest area available for free to $2.99.)

I tried reading on the Nexus 7 and prefer the Nook. I replaced a first edition Nook with the Glowlight. One thing I like about the new version is the ability to get online for B&N downloads from campground WIFI where you must enter login info.

I just got an iPad which is fine for web surfing and email but feels big and heavy for reading, but I did install both Overdrive and Kindle apps.

Once I got my iPad mini, I benched my old Nook Color. Works great for either Nook books or Kindle, plus all the other things an iPad can do.

I have an iPad and iPhone, both with the Kindle app. But I vastly prefer reading on the Kindle itself (lighter weight, easier on my eyes, no worries about battery life, no glare when reading outside). If I were in the market for a new e-reader I'd probably go with the Paperwhite. My current Kindle is an older model in a lighted case. I think it's going on four years old and still works like new.

Kindle paperwhite with that back light is the only way to go for the late night readers like me. Also get the free Calibre Ebook management system for your PC, very handy. You can convert your nook books to kindle.

Can't beat a Kindle-have my original Kindle bought years ago, and it still works fine. Would buy another Kindle if this one ever dies.

Two Kindle Paperwhites, one Kindle Fire - we prefer the Paperwhites for reading-Fire for games. Amazon has tons of free books also and have found some really good ones.

My wife has that Nook and it works just fine. Only drawback is if you get books from the library you need to transfer them with a usb cable from a computer running Adobe Digital Editions. I have a Kindle Paperwhite and the library books load wirelessly through Amazon. The also stay there beyond the due date as long as I don't reconnect to wifi. The light in either one is a great feature that I wouldn't be without.

I use the Kindle DX because I like to use an e-book reader that is closer in size to a real book. And I don't have to turn pages so often. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also have the Nook HD+ for ePub books that are a pain to put on the Kindle.
