Yes vids also. I use an HD action cam with 32gb card and transfer the vids to my ipad mini. Then when I get home I transfer the vids to my seagate wirless. Ipad mini is a lot easy to take traveling than a laptop.
In fact with a mini hdmi cable to the lightening to USB cable, I don't even have to remove the sd card from the camera. They make cables and adapters for whatever you need.

It might sound complicated, but it's really not.

We travel with an Asus laptop and an ipad2. Sometimes we can get wifi on the laptop but not on the iPad, and sometimes it's the reverse, oddly enough. So having both has proven very helpful.

My iPad has AT&T cellular, and that comes in VERY handy when traveling in the RV. In fact, I almost never bother logging on to Campground wifi with my iPad when we are in the US because the cellular Internet works better. (In Canada, I use wifi on the iPad to avoid paying for international cellular,)

Safari generally works great. Have no knowledge of loading Chrome onto the iPad, but now I'm curious about the benefits.

tcfullersoccer, loved you response. As a dedicated Mac user I should agree, but I can't. Got two Macs, a PC laptop and a 'droid tablet, which I feel is the better. Course if I didn't feel it the better table, I wouldn't of bought it. I prefer the 'droid cause of the many more apps available, the lesser cost and the non-proprietary OS. But that's just my deranged way of thinking.

I agree the USB port would be much more desirable. But you don't have to use itunes, you can add photos with a little $30 Apple Camera Connection attachment, at least I can with ipad2. Plug the connector into the port that you use for recharging.

Two options: Insert the SD card from the camera. Or you can use your camera's connector cord with a second USB connection plug that also comes with the same kit.

The download is very quick and you can opt to load all, selected ones, or just new ones not already on your iPad.

Then you can delete later with the trash can option at the top just like any photo.

I do this all the time while we are traveling in the RV. I got the Apple Camera Connection Kit at Best Buy.

I've been an iPad fan ever since Day 1, but have had no experience with the camera kit. Can you transfer other files from the sd card or only photos?

The I-pad is a tablet. Tablets are devices that fill the void between a smartphone and a computer. These popular gadgets predominately use Apple or Android software, Windows-based tablets have recently hit the market although they are not gaining ground as well as Microsoft had hoped.

Only Apple makes I-pads where there are many manufacturers of Android-based tablets, many are no-name companies with substandard products that inevitably have high failure rates. I personally prefer Android tablets and have been very satisfied with the devices produced by Samsung, they perform flawlessly and have great battery life.

Rockrash: I totally agree with you. I also have an ipad. If like to be in the hands of of company that thinks that it rules the world and there is only one way to do things, than bite the apple.
If you like to get things directly from your computer to your tablet, then get any device that runs windows or android. If you like to have more money in your pocket and more space on your tablet, than get an windows or android system.
By the way, a lot of your software on a PC can run on your windows tablet. Try that on an Ipad, meaning run the same things that is on your mac. Lots of luck meaning no luck.

Or pics download automatically from your I phone or Mac through icloud. You can also take pics on your Ipad. I tunes has nothing to do with it. Educate yourself on the use of your ipad and Mac OS, Rockrash. You won't have any complaints!
