I Really Do Try To Support Camping World, but it's hard.

I have to repair our 7 pin plug at the rear of the motorcoach so I called the Tucson Camping World. I call during normal business hours but get the answering machine. I leave a detailed message as to what I need and wait for a return phone call. After some time passes, I continue looking on line and find what I need at e-trailer.com. I order the Pollak 11-933 and 11-893 package deal for $27.00. A little later I get the return call from the Camping World associate and he tells me that he can get the parts for me for $70.20. I totally understand some price differences from store to store, but from $27.00 to $70.20? At least I got a return call, thanks,..but I really hope he just made a pricing mistake.

CW will continue to exist with their inflated pricing as long as there are NEW RV campers entering the market place.

The new camper usually believes that only 'camping' stores carry what they need for their RV. Once they gain experience they find they can find everything they need for camping and their RV elsewhere at affordable prices from companies that appreciate their business.

I don't buy anything from CW because of the ridiculous high prices and serious lack of customer service down to the point of being rude. And I am a full timer and tried many CW's across the US and found all to be the same.:(

Price and service are not strongpoints of CW. They usually have what is needed, that is the only strongpoint.

I have nothing against CW, but when I purchased my new Jayco Eagle from them they would not offer any discount on a new weight distributing hitch. It was take it or leave it at catalog price.

I went online to E-Trailer and found my WDH, but had a few questions. I called and the customer service person could not have been more helpful. She answered all of my questions, took my order over the phone and even made sure it shipped the same day direct from Blue-Ox. I had my Blue-Ox WDH in 3 days, free shipping and no sales tax. I even received a call after FedEx delivered from the same person who took my order to make sure I received everything that I needed.

I buy lots of stuff online, but never received the outstanding service like I did from E-Trailer.

In fairness to CW, the protective covering on their wiring appears to be substantially more robust than e-trailer. All three have 10,10,12,14ga. Quality vs pricing....JMHO....Dennis

Executive, I am only going by what the sales rep told me. I ordered the two piece kit I will need to repair mine for $27. HE told me he would have to order it and it is $70.20. What you are showing is NOT what I need or ordered.

I understand what you are saying. I try to support the local economy and have had similar experiences to yours. Truth is it is really a global economy with the internet. If I get bad customer service as you did I never go back. They may have more busness than they can handle or are mismanaged.

I sure wouldn't pay 70 bucks for a trailer connector kit.:E Let's hope that was an error.
We go to cw when we are across the line, they are not in Canada, and don't find any exceptional deals. What we get is selection, even if we don't buy anything it is fun to browse.

They still have to be competitive. Other brick/mortar stores will price match, if you find it cheaper elsewhere. If they can't offer competitive prices, they sure darn well bump up the customer service! Leaving a message and waiting for a call back is unacceptable.

I too try to support Camping World. I appreciate their support of this website, and I appreciate their positive support of RVing in general. However; I too have found it impossible or at least horribly cumbersome to connect by phone with Camping World Valencia. Just a suggestion: perhaps a national phone line with access to computer inventory, a real person would answer the phone and arrange for a PROMPT call back from a qualified responder. Just a thought.

Amazon has an app that allows you to scan a barcode or a product to see who, if anyone sells the same on Amazon.

I do make every effort to buy local and support our neighbors lively hoods, but a drop from $70 to $27 would sway my mind.

Would it not be great if CW sold all it's buildings, laid off all the workers, and started selling nothing but "internet sales"? :S
