iPad mini 2 with 16gb vs 32 - Update

Ok, guys, I've told Santa I want an iPad mini 2 for Christmas. Best Buy has a 16gb for $249 & 32gb for $299...Is it really best to get the 32 for $50 more?

I just chek email, surf web, take some pics, (have some music on it) etc with my iPod now and only have 8gb on it...but memory is almost full.

I'm thinking the 32 is the better buy and would give me plenty of storage???

Update --12/19/14 - Was looking online again today and found one with 32 GB @ Target!! Yippee!!! Bought the only one the had & clerk said I was lucky as it was one left over from Black Friday. Found the same price online as Best Buy had them advertised & Target orice matched their own website! So Merry Christmas to me!! (Took the 16GB back to Best Buy.)

Dunno exactly what I can and can't do. I move the SD off the camera in the helicopter straight into the iPad in the field, and have moved MP3 too. after that I haven't played much with it.

The Android Police Web Blog Gift Guide lists their choices for the best devices.

Although they are an Android site, their pick for the best tablet is the iPad Air 2.

...the iPad has been the gold standard in tablets since it was unveiled, and that hasn't changed.

So, you have to buy a $25 flimsy adapter cable to download to an sd card?

No you don't.. I sync pix, contacts, instant messages and all the media with that, and even downloaded apps via iCloud. Its so seamless that I'm getting delinquent on syncing through iTunes. The ONLY thing I HAVE to go back to the Mac for is my encrypted password data backup. After that all i need to do is be in the LAN of iTunes and it will sync via WiFi in the background (guess i should turn that back on).

BTW- iPad, iPhone, etc. can easily be downloaded to and from an SD card with their Lightening to SD adapter.

Yeah, are sure about that? There's more to the cloud than data storage, not to mention that "cloud" isn't an Apple centric term.

Well, Apple made it popular calling it the Icloud, I guess. I just don't like
the fact that I have to sync everything through itunes when I use the ipod or ipad, both of which I own. I have a chromebook also but don't use their cloud either. At least the chromebook has three usb ports and an sd card slot along with an hdmi port.

This debate is almost as fun as gas vs. diesel.
The cloud is great but it is not a total substitute for an SD card.
Why not have both?
Android lets you have both! I can use cloud storage or I can store things on my 128GB internal SD card.
Privacy does not =encryption.
For as innovative as Apple is not having a simple USB connection or SD card is a step backwards.

To the OP get as much storage as you can afford. Keep in mind cloud storage is an industry.
There are quite a few operations that will gladly charge you to store your data on their servers.
A SD card or external drive will store all your data with no annual/monthly fees.
I see cloud storage as a off site data storage option, however I don't see it as essential for day to day file transfer. But then again I prefer to think for myself when possible and leave all my options open vs. letting an outside party decide what my options should be.

Wow, the diagram on the first page is an excellent depiction of workstation and mainframe. The only difference is how the mainframe is accessed, and the distance from workstation to mainframe.

Geeeez, here comes the rebadged Mac vs. Windoz debate....
OP.. Seriously think about the 32GB iPad. I have a 128 and use it p, but I bought DW a 16GB mini figuring she would NEVER get close to that cap.... That was until grand kids and Disney apps that run 500m> 1G each. It doesn't take long..

Forget it folks, it's a lost cause.

I've had an iPad from the beginning and I've heard the same tired argument for years.

A tablet is a tablet. It is not a laptop or a desktop. Everybody I know who owns an iPad would never give it up.

What I do know is for once in my life I've been able to afford the best there is for something I use everyday.

This Christmas I treated myself to the iPad Air2, 128gb, cell service, the full package.
WOW.
I'm a digital, techno junky. Got my first PC in 1979. This iPad is the ultimate fix to my obsession.

I owned an iPad and gave it up. Now you know someone who did.:B

I just bought a Surface Pro 3 and can say WOW it is far more than a tablet, it is a tablet, a laptop and could easily be a desktop with a dock.

Don't get me wrong, an iPad is a great tablet but there are limitations just as the Surface has some limitations. Just not as many.
