- aslaksonExplorerNone that I know of. The roof-mount is the only DirecTV HD dish I've heard of.
But pointing an HD dish manually isn't all that hard, once you get the hang of it. Lots of folks do it.
al - WoodGlueExplorerThe Winegard "Carry Out" can be set to receive DirecTV or Dish satellites if I'm not mistaken. They aren't HD though. Like the previous poster mentioned, you'd probably have to go with a roof mount dish or a setup dish for that!
- I beleive this is the only Winegard that recieves HD from Direct TV.
Traveler - WoodGlueExplorerYou could get a "pay as you go" Dish Network Tailgater:
DishForMyRV
This may be a good solution! The dish doesn't need any external power as it runs off the coax cable!
WoodGlue - donn0128Explorer IIThere are lots of portable HD dishes available. Do a search online for satellite equipment. Almost any dealer will sell you a complete setup. Bought mine from a dealer in UT and had it the next business day. About 150 dollars for antenna and tripod is what you should expect to pay. Wipe not automatic there is equipment like align a site pr apps for a smart phone that make setup nearly bulletproof. You can also but sat finders like Birdog that will make it easier still.
- liberty2010Explorerwe use a tripod HD dish from Direct. Since Direct does not offer a tripod for the 'big' dish I had to modify my smaller shaft with a short section of 2" tubing and welded it to one side of the smaller tubing that fits the leg section. works fine, hold steady and is portable.
- tvfrfiremanExplorerThe reason we want an automatic HD is we now have a new HD tv at home and in the RV. Direct TV refused to set us up with a HD dish due to our living on a floating home. The river, during spring runoff to summer lows varies fifteen to twenty feet. Twice a hear it would have to be re aimed and would be a pain. I though an automatic would be the ticket but it needs to be portable so I can also use it at home. Oh yes, our cable company is not the best...
- I would suggest calling Winegard and ask them if the Traveler is an option.
- epusherExplorerSpend the dollars on the roof mount and make or have made a contraption for hauling it around/setting up. They're a little bulky, but it can be done.
- ronniedean1234ExplorerKing controls made a VuQube 2000 which we have and it will receive HD programing from the 101 and 119 satellite. We love our VuQube and I think there are still a few out there on the market. Not sure why they discontinued this model, so easy to use and set up and only takes about 2 minuets to lock on to satellites and receive full programming, We always camp around alot of trees so having the portable for us works well............
