List software/app
Some time ago I asked about list software on this forum and was pointed to Our Groceries. This is easily the single most used app for both my wife and I, we have been very happy with it.
Here is what I like and these would be considered requirements for any future list software:
- It has both a phone and web/pc interface. This is important as we frequently generate or modify lists using our windows PC's/laptops, because I really dislike typing on the little phone screen. I don't mind using the phone to check items off the list or put an occasional item on the list but anything beyond that gets done on the PC.
- The list is almost instantly updated on all devices whenever a change is made by my wife or I, and regardless of what particular device was used to make the changes.
- Frequently listed items can be entered off the deleted item list (assuming you don't delete the deleted item list)
- The text size and font are such that I can read it on my little phone screen for the most part.
- The software/web interface/app seems to work on any of our five win7 pc/laptops, our two android phones, one Ipad, and one nexus android tablet.
Some things that would make it even better, and maybe there is a way to do this and I just don't know about it:
- The ability to keep 'standardized' lists and recall them without having to un-delete each item on the list from the deleted items. For example, I have a 'Trailer departure' checklist I use when breaking camp which has things like lower antenna, stow the coffee pot etc. This works fine but every time I use it all the items get deleted as I check them off (as they should be) and to generate a new base list I have to go in and manually select each deleted line item and restore it to the list. On the shorter lists this is not too time consuming (assuming I remember to do it) but it sure would be nice to just restore the whole base 'Trailer departure' checklist each time.
- I would like to have the ability to print some of these lists out using a word or excel program such that I could use word to manipulate the document and make it ready for printing. Meaning increase the font size, change the font type, margins etc to make it easier to read on a sheet of paper.
I'm a bit leery of trying to use a mobile version of work/excel and some sort of drop-box based storage system as I don't know that it would work on all of our devices and the one time I looked at excel on a mobile device it was pretty hard for me to read and manipulate.
I understand there are RV specific list apps but the one I have tried I found it too constraining with all of it's predefined terms. In this respect the flexibility of Our Groceries is nice.
Any recommendations for an improvement over Our Groceries?
Thanks
