- 8_1_VanExplorerI built my own PCs back in the 90's and I remember paying over $1,900 just for my Nanao FlexScan T2-20 20" monitor. I had a $350 ATI graphic card with a $250 2MB VRAM upgrade and later added a Voodoo Graphics gaming card that worked just for games along with the ATI video card. My last gaming PC build was a year ago and I gave it to my 16 year old grandson. My current computer is a 6-core Mac Pro (made in Texas) with Windows 10 running Parallels Desktop for Mac along with Mac OS Sierra.
- strollinExplorerI paid $2500 in 1984 for my first computer, an IBM PC, and that was AFTER my employee discount!
I went to the MS Store and played with the Surface Studio. It's pretty awsome but not something I would ever buy.
The Surface Dial is also really cool, thought about buying one since they are compatible with my Surface Pro 3 but I really don't have a use for it. - fj12ryderExplorer IIII've never paid anywhere near $2000 for the gaming machines I used in the late 90's. Of course they were home-built.
When e-machines were introduced: "At the time (1998), few PCs sold for less than $699, and $999 was a more common price point for entry-level PCs." There were some people paying large sums for computers, but for most people they were just a toy, so $3000 would have been far from the norm. Kind of like cars: a few Cadillacs, but lots of Chevys and Fords. - Bucky_BadgerExplorerI paid around 2400 for my first computer in 96

I agree but for $3,000.00 (starting price) it has to go well beyond "Wow".
Think about we everyone was paying for computers back in the 90's. - 8_1_VanExplorerI took the grandkids to the Microsoft Store the other day and they loved drawing on it !
