The activity light came on with the computer and other peripherals and never stopped, I ran a full scan with AdAware and it stopped for awhile, then it started again. I paid the $18 for full version of AdAware and it automatically ran a quick scan. That turned up a lot of tracking cookies. Just for kicks I ran a full scan and it turned up the tracking cookie from OneClick. Got rid of all of them and it's fine again. Just ran AdAware on my travel netbook and it turned up a tracking cooking for DoubleClick.
The net book was running very slow, sort of like a dial up modem and now with all the bad stuff removed is pretty speedy. If it happens again I'll report back
