Why would you have 5 bars of reception on the tv then there is no picture and a message says no signal.....a second ago there was a beautiful photo....What causes that??

I admit it, I'm a TV junky. We usually have at least one screen on 24 a day.

Last Summer we had a power outage and coupled cable outage (lines down). It took many calls to have Mediacom send out a truck and man with cable connection skills.
For this period, I took refuge in the travel trailer that has it's own TV system. Many channels have the older TV series as their play schedule. If you like Rawhide or Perry Mason. you're good to go. If you want to see Shark Tank or the latest episodes of zombie killing, you'll need a cable connection or sat dish.
yeah but at least it's got moving pictures.. comfort, just like a warm blankie.. ๐Ÿ™‚

It is a multi-transmitter Shortwagve station with world wide coverage.. I tend to believe the wattage.. But it is possible that someone is pulling my leg.

That said. regarding the AFT bit in the Transmitted signals.. All my TV's allow me to overridge.. Results suck when I do but all 3, different brands, allow override.
All you have to do is pull the license and do a little antenna math to see it's not true.

I think I should have said "real time" complete with all the ads... We pre-record everything at home and skip all the ads but can't do that with OTA TV when camping.

OTA tv is free and sometimes you get what you pay for - zip. It matters not that you just upgraded to the latest batwing, adding device, super duper control box. You can go from shineola to nothin in a blink of an eye. Ditto on the LED interference. Installed a LED in the patio light and when on some channels go away.

Sometimes all we can get is the shopping, non-english and religious channels - all crystal clear of course. Nothing is worse than "camping" and roughing it and not being able to get our favorite shows like Survivor, DWTS, Shark Tank, etc. :R

Thinking there's gotta be a better way, I installed a satellite setup in our TT last season only to find that too often things are in the way like hills/mountains, structures & trees, the weather is bad and/or there is fierce competition for the few sites in a CG that can get a sat signal. :M

There's always the internet if we can't get TV. But even with Verizon mifi 4G service (one of the best coverages around the US), there's times when we can't get a good enough signal for that (sigh). ๐Ÿ˜ž

Sure there's always a DVD but there's something about live TV that is more appealing. As a last resort we'll get a book out and listen to some music on the radio. Heck, if it's still light enough out in the evening, sometimes we'll go for a walk and find some fellow campers in the same boat to chat it up with. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anybody notice that 1.21 gigawatts is the fictional wattage of the Delorean time machine in Back to the Future? Methinks their wattage was tongue in cheek.

All commercial broadcast stations anyway.

Here's the License
Its a typical 100KW Continental feeding a 12db phased Rhombic. Not figuring line and phazing losses, the ERP of this rig is roughly around 1.5 MW ERP. There's not enough real estate on the N. American Continent to generate the kind of ERP out of that 100KW rig you were talking about. Someone slipped a serious decimal.

I wont see Bob until this summer but I'll rib him about it..

You have a well deserved excellent reputation on here but...........
I'm sorry, I just don't buy that.

Got any documentation on this station and it's output ???

Coming up the station is WTWW and they are a multi-transmitter Short Wave Broadcaster (We Transmit World Wide they say) which can be heard in places all over the earth, and beyond.

https://twit.tv/shows/ham-nation/episodes/267?autostart=false

https://twit.tv/shows/ham-nation/episodes/266?autostart=false

The two videos talk about the station.. I thought one of the episodes was titled 1.4 Gigawats but .. I failed to find one such and I do not have the archival space so I had to stream them, But you will get a tour of the station on one of the videos.

The station url is wtww.us

In one of the Ham Nation episodes they mention the Total combined output of the transmitters is 1.4 Gigawatts.. however I'm not sure which episode, thought it was part of the ep-title but did nto find it. The two I linked to both contain WTWW in the epislde title..

But that is the source of the information.

I do not give up that easy.. Seems I was mistaken1.4, it is 1.21 (Close enough)

Found the precise Ham Nation Episode # 273
