Overcharge really tears it for me !

I've been a loyal supporter of CW & Good Sam; in fact, we'd had great service from the Brownsville, MI location and from the ESP -- but I can't defend them anymore!

I sent the following to both CW Customer Service & mlemonis@campingworld.com:

"As a loyal Good Sam member & Camping World customer, Iโ€™m writing you to intervene in this issue.

In July, I received a mailing about CWโ€™s introduction of the SmartPlug electrical system products. I had been anxiously awaiting this quality product, and when I saw that CW was carrying the combination Power Inlet and 30 Amp RV cordset, I placed my order on July 20th (#12558172).

When I received the kit drop-shipped from the manufacturer a few days later, I was pleased โ€“ until a few weeks later, when my friend looked on the CW site and found that the combination set sold for $295.99 โ€“ and that the two parts individually sold for $242.98 (a difference of $53.01) !! (See attached screenshot)

Why is this pricing backwards? I would expect that the combination set would be less costly than the individual parts, and hereby request a refund of the overcharge of $56.19 (53.01 + 6% sales tax charged) โ€“ per the โ€œCampingworld.com Promiseโ€ of โ€œSatisfaction Guaranteedโ€.

Sincerely,"

I've just received the following response from CW Customer Service:

"Thank you for contacting Camping World. We apologize for the inconvenience. Per our price guarantee, If an item you purchase from us goes on sale within 14 days from date of purchase, we will issue a merchandise certificate for the difference. Unfortunately, we would not be able to credit you back the difference in the two items."

They're just not getting it: the issue is not that an item went on sale after I purchased it; rather, it's that the combination kit is STILL priced at $53.01 HIGHER than buying the two component parts separately!

This wasn't a sale price, it's the standard listed prices for the three items! :h

And, no response from Marcus, himself.

No wonder there are so many "Guaranteed Unsatisfied" folks posting in this forum.

Why didn't you fully check out pricing before you purchased. You screwed up not CW. Had you done your job you could have saved making yourself look stupid and saved a sensless rant.

Amazing. I just finished posting this response about CW filling a propane tank: "With respect: It is really simple. If you think any merchant is overcharging: Do not buy from that merchant again."

Sure it stings when you are overcharged.

I just will not give them a chance to do it again. No biggee.

Why do they call this a "dear Marcus" section? Its VERY rare that I read a post on here addressing an issue from him???? Maybe it should be retitled as "ask a brick wall", or "ask a panel of bashers vs. cheerleaders" ??????

To those who have said (paraphrasing), "Too bad. You should have read closer", you're missing my point.

Most people who are changing from the standard Marinco "Park Power" fixtures to SmartPlug will require both the Cord set and Power Inlet, so they are more likely to buy the combined set item.

Therefore, to price that item significantly higher (~20%) than the individual items is either a significant error or is predatory pricing to take advantage of human nature.

If it's their error, then I'm giving them a chance to correct it and make it right.
If it's intentional pricing, however, then I'll shame them for their predation.

Elizabeth, you're getting the benefit of the doubt. I'll wait for your response before posting further.

I looked up the Camping World Satisfaction Guarantee. It says that unused electronic items may be returned within 30 days of purchase. Also as you stated, items that go on sale 14 days after the purchase can result in a gift card for the difference. You situation meets none of these requirements. Although I hate overpaying, I would say shame on the purchaser for not being more thorough in product pricing research.

So you shopped, received your items, and were pleased for weeks.

Nothing has changed but your perception.

Welcome to the 'Camping World could care less once we have your money' club. The way we have been treated by them and Marcus himself has driven us to any place but CW. We now drive 5 miles past their store to buy our RV stuff, even though we live within ยฝ mile of the local CW store.

I can understand your frustration. I don't shop at CW much anymore and will probably drop my ERS when it expires.
