While I understand the OP's disappointment at the charge, I don't think this is a case of overcharging. The missing information is the wholesale price of the items. The manufacturer may price the combination higher than the individual parts at the wholesale level.
Just checked the online prices for item 78758 (couldn't find the item number in the OP's post) and find just what the OP was concerned about. Seems no reason for pricing the parts below the combination. I wonder if its a pricing mistake.
