PdaNet WiFi stopped working

FoxFi HOTSPOT is BACK.....

I have Verizon Samsung S5 Version 5.0 and FoxF1 Hotspot had been working great. Today I get Checking subscription status and wont create hotspot. I can use USB teather works but WiFi Share failson my PC but it does work from our laptop.
Verizon just uped my monthy unlimited data fee by $20 and now PdaNet WiFi doesn't work. Wondering if when they began charging all of us more and they then disabled the Foxfi hotspot. I of course have USB debugging turned on.
Anyone else having problems.
Anyway the bottom line is I can still hotspot unlimited just not directly from my phone via WiFi but teather to laptop and then WiFi hotspot from that computer. So Verizon if you are screwing us over I got news for you I still won.
I had been using the phone WiFi hotspot heavily so it might start working again later when usage slows down. Thats not unherd of.

im USB tethered and netflix works fine

your problem is the blue tooth connection, it is not designed to carry video
netflix tests your connection, if the bandwidth speed is not enough, it will give you an error

try it with a USB cable

Good idea, thanks.

Just have to find the appropriate USB cable that goes from the phone to the tablet. I dont think I have one in my quiver.

I made the switch to Bluetooth with FoxFi and it works OK sort of, Netflix and YouTube both fail stating no network connection is found. I'm wondering if the Verizon team has been busy elsewhere.

Can someone who made the FoxFi switch please verify this problem with Netflix and YouTube.

I'm hoping its just a setting unscrewed up.

Thanks

i have found USB tether to be faster than wifi hotspot connection

but the wifi hotspot is just so convenient , letting me use my tablet while sitting at the table having coffee and breakfast
I can explain it to you.

I just set up the USB tether and it appears to be working almost as fast as the wifi. Hope FoxFi figures out another way around VZ.

When I talked to VZ, they said I could have the hot spot feature for another 30 bux a month or I could give up the unlimited plan and get the hot spot for free! Wow, such a deal.

What do you mean by teather to laptop then wifi hotspot from that computer?

Will that work if I'm teathering to a tablet as opposed to a computer?

Yes Just plug you phone via USB cable in your laptop or PC.

Thanks

Ron W

What he means is that he has the phone tethered via USB cable to his computer to provide an internet connection and then created a hotspot on the computer so that other devices could connect to it and share that connection.

I doubt you could do this with your tablet (unless it's a Windows tablet).

When I first got my LG G2 phone, PDANet wouldn't work on it so I had to use this same method. After the FCC made it's ruling that Verizon couldn't block people from using a hotspot, I got a system update that made it so that PDANet started working. Now, PDANet no longer works on my phone so I will need to revert back to using this method again.

There are various ways of creating a wifi hotpsot on your computer (computer MUST have a wifi adapter). See here: How to Turn Your Windows PC Into a Wi-Fi Hotspot

Houston we have a problem !

Just went to the Pdanet website and it seems Verizon has finally found a way to block its operation. All the complaints started on the 20th of the month.

Maybe they can find a workaround.

So I'm stuck running it in Bluetooth mode for now, which is slower than wifi.

Ron W.

USB tether is just as fast as the WiFi mode was. And they say it should on their web site help section.
What's the link to the complaints info. I don't find it at www.PdaNet.co

He means really actually tether using the USB cable
Tether means cable connection
Not Wi-Fi connection
Wi-Fi hotspot is not tether

PlaNet was originally a tethering program, you connected to the phone via USB cable to share aka use the phones internet connection

As far as Verizon hotspot feature, not available to us grandfathered unlimited plans,
We must use a 3rd party app
OR
pay Verizon $30 a month for the privilege of hotspot/tether access
I can explain it to you.

PdaNet is a total waste of time on Verizon network. All of their smart phones are wifi hotspot capable at no additional cost. If its not working, you might need to update the OS, clean malware, or something else.
Not for unlimited plans. Verizon was compelled by the FCC to allow tethering with the exception of unlimited plans.
