Portable Satellite Cable

I Have a single coax ran from the overhead console to the back lower storage compartment for cable TV hookup. I need to hook up a portable satellite dish and was thinking of using this coax with an A-B switch before it goes into the receiver so I can switch from sat, to cable depending on what's available at the campground. Will this work?

I guess there are A-B switches, and there are A-B switches that are internally clean enough to maybe do what you want. There is another way. I did this and it works great:

I think there is a better write up of the same mod somewhere on the net, but this is the one I found for this reply.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

NO...

A typical SAt TV hookup is a SAT DISH with maybe two outputs on it. The most simplest way to do this is connect each one of these two SAT DISH ports to a separate SAT RCVR. The run the VIDEO/AUDIO outputs of each SAT RCVR to the VIDIO/AUDIO input of each of your two TV SETUPS. I brought two SAT RCVRs from my house SAT TV ACCOUNT.

Then all you do to watch SAT TV is use your TV REMOTE and either select CABLE TV from the camp ground or select the VIDEO INPUT you have the SAT RCVR connected to.

You will have to route the two RG cables from the two SAT DISH ports into the trailer through the storage door or window etc. Run on SAT DISH RG cable to the front TV set and other SAT DISH TV cable to the bedroom TV.

There are other ways to do this but this is probably the most simplest method.

I ran this way for a few years until the NATIONAL BROADCAST TV moved to the digital mode and once I got setup to view the OTA NATL BROADCAST from the locals towns I stopped bringing along my SAT TV items. FREE HDTV from the local towns was much better on my eyes then the TV signals was from the camp grounds and the SAT TV hookup.

As long as it's not a splitter, my opinion is yes.
