Problems setting up Nanostation Loco M2

Iโ€™ve been trying to set up a Nanostation Loco M2, plus and Airgateway for use connecting to RV park Wifi. Iโ€™ve carefully followed the David Bott video, and Iโ€™ve followed a couple of other similar setup instructions. No joy.

My laptop can communicate with the Nanostation via Ethernet cable. It shows as being connected to our modem/router (Jeffers) here at home. All the lights on the Nanostation are lit up, further suggesting that it is communicating with our home router. But no internet access.

Our laptops both connect wirelessly to the Airgateway, but of course with the Nanostation not getting internet from our home router, it is not working.

I suppose something is not set correctly. I admit that Iโ€™ve run out of ideas. My suspicion is that it has something to do with security settings, but I am out of my league trying to sort that out. Here are screen shots of the present configuration:

I hope someone can point out which setting(s) I have wrong. Iโ€™ve tried repeatedly resetting and reconfiguring the Nanostation, and I canโ€™t get it to send an internet signal through.

I usually have no problem with things like this, I'm beginning to think that I should have bought something that was already pre-configured.

Thanks for any help!

Wayne

LittleBill - That fixed it! I got internet access from the Nanostation through the LAN port. Then I enabled wireless, attached the Airgateway to the Nanostation, and got wireless internet!

Thank you so much!!!

you have dhcp disabled on the wired lan connection. your gateway/dns is 0.0.0.0 this is your problem

renable dhcp for the wired lan connection on ipv4. you should get a gateway/dns ip once dhcp is handed out from the loco.

at that point you should have internet. if you don't do another ipconfig /all once dhcp is enabled and let me know

LittleBill โ€“ Yes, Jeffers is the main router. Thatโ€™s the one Iโ€™ve mainly been trying to connect to. Iโ€™ve tried the repeater only to see if I got a different result. Result is the same either way.

Yes, the laptop connects to Jeffers just fine, as do all our other wireless devices.

Here are the screen shots you requested:

I appreciate your assistance!

empty, don't use the repeater,

can we connect to jeffer's? can you verify connecting to this you get internet via wifi?

your settings look solid. can you give me a ipconfig /all off this computer as well?

can you provide the same screen shots again, once connected to jeffer's? which i am assuming is the main router?

OP here.

Yes, Iโ€™ve been trying to get the Nanostation to work before adding the Airgateway into the circuit. One piece at a time.

Accsys โ€“ Iโ€™ve followed about 3 different sets of instructions. The 192.168.2.1 that Iโ€™m currently set at came from the David Bott video. I also tried following a Ubiquiti document called, โ€œBeginners SETUP GUIDE for NANOSTATION-M2 as receiver,โ€ which resulted in a fallback IP of 192.168.10.20 for the Nano. Same result either way.

LScamper โ€“ Iโ€™ve tried to select an access point and have tried both โ€œSelectโ€ and โ€œLock to AP.โ€ With Lock to AP, the AP MAC appears as you suggest. Neither way has worked.

joebedford โ€“ The Nano is named โ€œUBNT,โ€ as in the David Bott video, with my own unique password. The router through which I am trying to connect to the internet was named โ€œJeffersโ€ by the telephone company technician who installed it. It has a different password. The SSID on the Main page is the AP top which I am connected. I have a second router set up as a wireless repeater to serve a detached shop. I named it โ€œBridge.โ€ When I lock to that AP, both Main and Wireless show that SSID.

LittleBill โ€“ Here are screen shots:

Viewfinder โ€“ I was very close to the wireless router to which I was trying to connect. I move to another room. Thereโ€™s now a brick wall between the router and the Nano, so the signal strength should be attenuated. Still no joy.

I appreciate everyoneโ€™s help on this!

I run an airgateway to a picostation on the roof. Picostation DHCP fallback 192.168.10.1 on mine also. How close is nanoloco to your home router? Could you be overloading the frontend with too much signal?

I think LScamper has the solution for you. Let us know. I have the same setup and cannot connect to the campgrounds free open wifi for some unknown reason. I am good to go with other secure and unsecure APs. It's got me buffaloed.

on the main tab, click dhcp client and lets see the settings.

on the network tab, show us lan settings as well.

keep the airgateway out of the picture for the time being, once you get internet from the loco we can move to the gateway, make sure you have a network cable around

Looks like you've got both your AP and Nanostation set to the same SSID. While you CAN do that, it complicates settings. Try a different name.

Don't know if this will help.
On the WIRELESS tab click select. A list of sites will come up. From the list click on the circle to the left of the MAC address you want to select. Scroll to the bottom of the list and click Lock to AP (not Select).

Back to the WIRELESS tab. The MAC address that you selected should be in the Lock to AP box just under the SSID box. On the bottom of the WIRELESS tab page click Change button. Now at the top of the WIRELESS tab page there will be an Apply button, click it. Wait about 30 seconds for the Nanostation to re-boot.

Now go to the MAIN tab page to the right the AP MAC should be the one you locked to along with the signal strength.

Hope this helps.

The only difference I could see between yours and mine was on the Wireless tab, the Lock to AP MAC: had some hexadecimal numbers on mine and on the Network tab my DHCP Fallback IP: had 192.168.10.1 whereas yours had 192.168.2.1

I also used Dave's video and had no trouble whatsoever but you have to do everything exactly as he says! You may need to reset the nanostation and run through the video again.

Thanks!

I edited the first post again to change from trying to show images on this page to just giving a link to each individual photo. I hope this works.

If not, I think I can dust off an unused Photobucket account and see about linking from there (assuming PB is even around these days).
