Problems with laptop

Lenovo Thinkpad T430 w/ windows seven pro

Firefox ver. 33.1.1

Add-ons/extensions:
Adblock plus 2.6.6
No squint 2.1.9
Updated ad blocker for firefox 11+

Plugins:
Silverlight plug-in: Always activate
Shockwave flash 15.0.0.223: Always activate
All other plugins are ask to activate

Problem: The laptop is extremely slow to react to inputs (touchpad click, enter key etc.). It has had this problem to a degree for several weeks now but seems worse after last week’s windows update.

Examples:
After boot-up, on the desktop I double click on the FF icon. It goes to blank (white) tab/screen and says ‘connecting…’ on the tab. If I wait long enough it sometimes will eventually start FF, or if I move the cursor it will go immediately to FF.

On a forum I double click on a forum section or thread title and it just sits there until I move the cursor and then it completes the action.

Viewing a youtube video is impossible unless you constantly move the cursor, otherwise it freezes.
  • Nice computer. Slowing response can be an indication of cramped quarters. Check and see how much free disk space you have. Modern Operating Systems require lots of frees pace to move around in.

It also helps to stick in as much on board memory as you can afford.
  • Agree with RoyB on advanced system care. Works well and all computers I have it on work well.
  • Go start/all programs/accessories/command prompt. Type in
sfc(space)/scannow You may need to mount your original install disc if asked to. This program determines if all your system files are intact.

  • Is it only Firefox that is slow? Have you tried running it in safe mode?- with it running, in the FF menu click help -> restart with addons disabled.

  • Run anti-virus to check for any intrusions. Do you have onboard anti-virus such as Norton?
  • You gave a bug gobblig up resources. Ctl/alt/delete and look to soo what is using your resoirces. Then, debug and defrag
