There is an ongoing thread about receiving radio signals with a computer and I noticed a rabbittTV USB jobby at walmart. anybody have any information on them, what they receive, do they work, etc.?thanks,bumpy

basically your buying a memory stick piece of hardware that had software tht acts like guide to whats available on the webyou must have a solid internet connection to stream the videos that are listedand much of it is junkunless you are interested in free 'forgein' programming

I don't have this, but it seems like you need an internet connection. It basically creates a list of available internet sites to stream video from. There are a number of websites that do exactly what the RabbitTV usb plug does and provide the same channels. Save your $10 and Google internet TV and you will get exactly the same links that you would be paying for. Don't expect any of the main broadcast channels - none have a live feed other than perhaps news - but you can get streaming video from several of them of their archives. Most of what comes on "free internet TV" are foreign broadcasts and a lot of soccer games. There are a few US channels with very, very old movies. No matter what you need a strong wifi signal or a hardwired internet connection. You can do much better with a good digital antenna and get free current TV.

but folks here seem to think that this may organize stuff a little better without having to surf the net.??? I do have netflix for most movies however.well I googled wwitv and got a long list of religious broadcasts.bumpy

well it didn't jump out of my shopping cart this morning. seems to be a fairly nice way to navigate this stuff. I tried moving it between computers but evidently didn't log out of the old one so it stopped me.

I'll check it out again, but usually they sneak those pre checked boxes in asking for all that stuff, this time there was no option. perhaps if I find another access?

It did not insist on making itself my home page when I downloaded it last week, I do recall though that like most everything it wanted to do a bunch of stuff I had to decline.. that may have been one of them.

well I went to getmiro and during the download it insisted on making it my home page, etc. so backed out. usually these downloads have a box you have to click off to avoid that but this one didn't.

just discovered that my desk top has filmfunTV which supposedly also has live TV?

thanks, I think I want the wifi type version for my use. unless I can get one to pick up my dish signals

Hey Bumpy - mine's the AVer TV Hybrid Volar Max - had it since '09, but it was maybe $80 then. Yes, it needs either antenna or cable TV input to work - simply makes your 'puter a "regular" TV. Worked much better than my analog TV and converter box. Have since upgraded TV in the van, so haven't used it much in the last year or 2, I guess. ST

Rabbit is a bit misleading.. You do not receive genuine television, you get internet videos,, Try www.getmiro.com and save the cost.

NOTE: Video really eats bandwidth and drive space..

thanks, may use my $50 amazon certificate for one of those but there are three of them for $49.00???? any suggestions as to which is preferable and why? and this is preferable to rabbittTV?

Its a tuner. It gets over the air broadcasts (with an antenna needed) or cable if connected.

Interesting side note - Rabbit TV requires a subscription of $10 a year after the first year. ->

Check out AverMedia's USB "tuner". Doesn't use internet, just makes your computer a TV/radio tuner.
