Rand Mcnally gps rv7720 turn announcement update

Question

I have a model rv7720 that I bought new when they came out. I haven't used it much but have kept updated. I noticed that a turn announcement feature that wasn't on it before. The announcement feature has three announcement adjustments. 1st,2nd and 3rd. Each adjustment has a bar adjustment from closer to farther. There is absolutely no explanation (that I can find) on how to set these. It seems logical to me that the 1st should be set farther, 2nd somewhere mid-range, and 3rd closer. However the is no explanation, farther as compared to what, miles for highway, feet for cities. The way it is set now makes no sense to me. Anyone else run into this problem, if so how did you sit it and how is it working for you?

So far Rand McNally has not been much help.

When you get to the screen with the bar graphs, click on help. It tells a little but not much.
Like you said there is not much for help.
Have you downloaded the manual?

Set three distances at which you want
to be warned about an upcoming turn.
The first announcement will be the farthest
from the turn and the third the closest to it.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I downloaded the original manual but of course it did not have these options.

From the manual you posted what they are saying sounds logical. I just can't figure out why even have the adjustments, I seemed to work fine before the gps had this feature.

I posted this on the irv2 forum also and got an answer. The poster said he set his adjustments but nothing changed on his gps, he thinks his unit just went back to its default settings.

PawPaw n GramThanks for the reply, I agree with everything you have said. However how does the gps determine the difference between city and highway distances? Or does it work on an distance &amp; time formula to use the same sittings for both situations? Do we just sit the settings as you suggested, (which sounds logical to me) and hope they work for both situations? I guess I could experiment with it and see. I was just hoping someone has already done the work for me.Again, thanks for the reply.
