shaw satellite receiver GM-0700

PLEASE!!! Who has tried a self aiming shaw satellite GM-0700 in Yuma or Houston? what signal strenght did you get? I only want basic - no HD . my winegard self aiming traveler sk-7002 motor has crashed I think and i want portability and the GM-0700 is about 1/2 the price of a new SK-7002
  • If you want portable it will have to be a big 60cm size antenna on a tripod that you point yourself. I don't know of any other options. I am hopeful that you are not having a stroke (I am not kidding). Your first post was well written and clear and your last was a bit on the jumbled side. Hopefully, you were just in a hurry and you are fine.
  • many thi am chanks to all for replies re the gm-0700 portable shaw antenna - i am having the dealer here look for options, and maybe he can buy from Winegard - just the base which on mine is faulty. looking for a faster and less cost than shipping old from Canada to USA and back plus repairs if fixable. I will keep looking ofr the portable too and would love to hear from anyone who has one and uses it now
  • The Winegard GM-700 is for use in Canada only. It is an auto pointing dome style antenna. You still need to manually set the skew depending upon your location as well. I believe the antenna inside the dome is simply too small to get a lock on the Shaw satellite(s).
My guess would be that you could ship the base of the Trav'ler shipped to Winegard, repaired and returned for less than the cost of a new GM-700 (which likely won't work anyway).
  • Last time I was in AZ, about 5 years ago, I saw quite a few Shaw (StarChoice) dishes aimed at the sky....I bet a manual aimed one would work.

  • My understanding of the carry out for shaw direct, it is for use only in Canada. While I do not own one, that's what it says on winegards website.
