Shipping to Canada

I was checking out the Camping World cyber Monday online sale and quickly filled my shopping basket with a few things I wanted. The deals were great and even with the weak Canadian dollar I was still saving money. That all changed when I went to pay and saw how outrageous the shipping charges were. My $130 order was almost doubled to over $200...and for what? It's super frustrating to see how badly potential Canadian customers are being ripped off with these brokerage fees or whatever else it is that jacks the price up so much. I shop a lot online from the states and very rarely do you ever see anything like this and while I'm not an expert on international shipping this seems ridiculous and unnecessary. I doubt I'm the first Canadian customer that Camping World has lost this way.

I agree. Camping World lost me as a customer years ago for that very reason. FedEx has a "flat rate" box for $10 for small items, and USPS is reasonably priced and comes to your door with no brokerage fees. Even a prepaid UPS shipment comes with an extra invoice of at least $30, so I avoid them unless I am really desperate.

Many sellers do make the extra effort, and I always let them know I appreciate it. The ones that don't, I often let them know as well.

these fees aren't necessary though, that's what gets me so frustrated. Companies that actually want to sell stuff make it very affordable to ship to Canada...most offer free shipping after spending a certain amount or have a flat rate of $10 or something. Jacking up the price 70% to ship isn't something that should happen.

Yes, brokerage and shipping fees are very expensive. Recently I had need to order an $8 part for an electric toothbrush. It was only available from a US source. The fees were going to be $25 - it was almost cheaper to buy a new toothbrush with a new warranty.

Brokerage fees from UPS increase border shopping. I avoid buying from US online stores unless they can ship USPS. I had a macerator part double through brokerage fees.

Avoid UPS, they like to surprise you with extra charges. DHL was the cheapest I found when I was ordering from another American company.
I just purchased a front facia for a gmc pickup from a company in New York that used Global Shipping Service. It only cost $15.00 to send that big box across the country and delivered to my door in Canada.

How are they shipping? USPS is the slowest and most expensive. DHL had a package to me in three working days from Ft Collins CO and cost was reasonable.
