your receiver has been turned back on? Upon arriving at our park this winter I called Dish to resume our service. That will be $83 dollars sir. Credit card # issued and confirmation # given. Then I ask, can a tech come out and align my dish? That will be $155 sir. What? Oh I can reduce that to $76 if you take our $8/month warranty services. No thank you I will borrow a signal meter. Two days later I set our dish behind the coach, bring out the receiver, tv, signal meter and some new RG6 coax to go between the dish, meter and receiver. I get the coordinates from dish align and they are the same as last year. (We're in the same park but moved over 3 streets). OK, I fire everything up and try for a signal, NOTHING. I look at my dish pointer screen from the Dish menu and they gave me a different coordinate reading. Sooooo I change to those settings, still NOTHING. OK time to call Dish. Talk with tech services and tell them what I did and he gives me another set of coordinates. (SORRY THIS IS GETTING SO LONG) We try that and still NO signal reading at all. He says well sir it's one of three things. LNB is bad, wire is bad or your receiver is bad. ????? I store the dish indoors when we're not here and the receiver is always left in the front compartment where the rest of the electronic equipment is. As far as the RG6, it was a brand new piece. So I ask what now then. Well we have to send out a tech. How much? $155 plus parts. So I ask, is there a guarantee that it be working when he leaves. Um NO! Well I Was mad at this point and just asked for a refund on what I had paid to activate the system. Back to my original question, how do I know if they even turned the signal back on to the receiver???? Just to add in my frame of mind at the time I cancelled my service. Might have been wrong doing that but I'm having a hard time believing that the equipment may be bad. I don't find any info on how to test an LNB and I for sure can't test the receiver. Oh, that's one other thing he suggested. Maybe I could take my receiver to some other neighbor that may have Dish and ask if I can plug it into there system and see if it working. I said yeah I'll get right on that one. Again sorry it's so long, just a little frustrated.

How to tell if it's "Activated" (Turned on is a different action)
Step one: Turn on Sat Receiver (Power button)
Step two: Turn on TV
Step three: Try to watch the Sat TV Brag Channel (likely 101) Got Signal (This channel plays activated or not)

Try to watch a show other than "We are great and arn't you glad you choose us" (101) such as oh,,,, Whatever is on FX or Halmark.. JOY your are active, NO JOY call the activation hotline and wait 5 minutes,, You should now have joy.

May be working OK now but it sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere and you will be going through this routine again.

Well now this is pure luck. Was walking in the park and there like a mirage is a Dish van. Saw the tech and asked if he would look at our system. Looked at the dish then went in the motor home to take a reading on the incoming RG6, yup excellent signal. Took the receiver hooked it up turned it on and WELLA we now have tv. YEA! Gave him $40 for about 15 minutes, he was happy I am happy. Thanks to all that contributed to our problem. Can't understand why it worked today on not yesterday after re-hooking everything up. Go figure.

Do I have this straight? You hook it up outside and the signal is good. You take the same receiver inside and get no signal. What is different between the outside hookup and the inside hookup? Coax???
The same coax between the receiver ouside with good signal and snowy picture on the inside TV?

Maybe one little strand of the shield of the new coax is touching the center conductor.

No one at Dish (or anywhere) can point your antenna. Calling Dish and asking them why you are not getting a signal will result in a frustrating back and forth with no hope for a resolution. If you are pointing your own antenna you should understand that it is your responsibility and your responsibility alone to get it right. Why would you expect anyone else to pay to fix your improper setup?

I've never had dish ask for any money when I needed help. My question is , are you calling Dish directly or are you calling an Authrized dealer?
If you call Dish customer service, you will get first line tech support, AsK for Advanced tech support . Those Guys know there system and will take the time and work with you.

Not getting billed, may be part of my contrac

If the receiver has a signal strength of 77 on one antenna and nothing on the other, the problem is not the receiver but rather the other antenna. No signal means the antenna is not properly pointed or defective. The receiver is just fine.
The snowy connection has nothing to do with Dish either. As the tech suggested, a snowy connection is a local issue (quite often a loose connection) and unrelated to the receiver or the Dish Network service.

Well went back to the drawing board today. Set everything up outside again and gave it another go. Low and behold, I got signal strength of 77, sooo I locked that in. After a few problems with the system not accepting my sim card we got it up and running and I had service. Well for the moment anyway. One thing that was strange was that the screen on the tv going thru the process was very snowy. I asked many times about it but the techs passed it off as being loose connections. So now time to take the receiver back inside the motor home and hook everything up. Well guess what?????? NO SIGNAL. Couldn't get it to work again so I guess it's time for a new receiver. I'll get it ordered up and hopefully when it arrives I'll be able to watch a few more channels then I can now over the OTA antenna. Wish me luck I need it. ๐Ÿ™‚

If you don't want to pay for an on-site repair then you are going to have to take a previous posters advice and find someone in your park and see if they will allow you hook up your reciever. I suppose you also could go to a local DISH retailer and see if they could do it also. Since the cable is new, it's most likely a bad reciever or a bad LNB. If you get the reciever checked out and it's OK then you'll know it the LNB.

What I meant by resume service is just turn it back on. It has been in vacation mode since May.

We have a Dish 1000.2 with a triple LNB. Would all 3 of the LNB's go bad and not be able to pick up a signal?

I don't know of any way to access my receiver on line from my account.

As far as the dish align, they sent a tech out last year and charged nothing. This time the tech couldn't authorize it. I even offered the guy money for coming out but he wouldn't take it.

You did the best thing by canceling Dish-TV. We got tired of them jacking prices on us. We're over-the-air now, only... And much happier!

You would see a signal if the dish is properly aimed, even if the receiver has not been activated. There are even a few channels broadcast in the clear that can be viewed without activating. As you were told, something ain't right somewhere in your setup...

Do you need to reauthorize the service like DirectTV. That is done online with a click of the mouse.

If I need a dish aligned in FL I call a local satellite service company. I have DirecTV. Costs about $50. AL's TV

Google "satellite TV" for your location.

Give me your location and I'll locate a satellite service company that will come to you and align your dish.
