Streaming to TV from Cell Phone

Not sure if this has been a topic before or not and this is something I have never tried before but when out camping does anyone ever stream TV from their cell phones to their NON SmartTV in the trailer.
And no I don't want to hear your camping UNPLUG from it all as that is always not an option as we do camp and use the trailer as a destination vehicle not just for camping.
I'm just not sure which devices to use or how to do it. I have a cable provider that I can watch anything from them off my phone just like at home and we have Netflix and Amazon Prime too with Verizon's unlimited Data plan. TIA for any advice on this.

Sorry should have mentioned that I have Android devices

don't need a smart TV to screen cast/stream from phone to TV

although smart TVs can connect to internet themselves via your wifi
BUT that is NOT streaming from the phone
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

Easiest thing, buy a smart TV. They are ridiculously inexpensive.

I have unlimited internet on my phone, but limited hot spot. So, phone has apps and I wireless duplicate the phone screen on the TV.

I have been researching and it looks like the ROKU might do everything I need. I have Xfinity at home and ROKU support Xfinity so I can get all the same local channels and get into my DVR and recordings with signing onto my account through Xfinity. It also supports Prime Video and Netflix. Xfinity and Prime are my 2 main streaming supports I would love to have.

I was just looking at the Roku Xfinity App information, and it says that you can only access the Xfinity App if your connected to your Xfinity home WiFi, so the Roku can replace a cable box at home. I don't think that you can access your Xfinity content through a Roku when connected away from home.

You use this on a Windows computer to mirror to your TV?

The next most important is what kind of data plan do you have on your phone. Data is generally not cheap for large packages necessary for a lot of streaming. Most 4G "unlimited" plans are limited to a certain amount unlimited data and then your speeds can be slowed enough to make streaming pretty tough.

We use verizon and while it slows down when you hit the first limit, still plays fine...of course we aren't trying to do 4k super hi-def, etc...

I suspect since the OP hasn't bothered to upgrade to a smart TV, he probably isn't a technophile with a desperate need for high definition TV.

No haven't upgraded to a smart tv. The spot for the TV in my trailer won't fit anything larger than a 21" screen so I'm not sure I want to buy another just for it to be smart. What's in there now is a 19" LED 720P

Can any device (Apple TV box, Chromecast gizmo, etc. ) be used to wirelessly mirror everything that's on a Windows laptop to the TV?

I'd like to be able to display photos, give demonstrations, etc. on the TV that are currently on my Windows laptop.

I know I can do this via a simple HDMI cable connected between the two, but I'd like to find a solution that will do this wirelessly.

Thanks

on my devices, the screen stays on
remember the device is 'AWAKE' streaming the video
what you are doing is 'ALSO' sending the signal to the TV via the cable

IF the device was asleep , it would not be streaming
phones and tablets are NOT designed to blank the screen while streaming video

in most cases you will running some kind of 120v power for the TV
just connect the phone to a charge port, if you are worried about battery life
I can explain it to you.

HDMI adapter cable for the phone or tablet
Been doing it off and on since 2012
When i started streaming Amazon and Netflix using my Motorola Android tablet connected to my phone Wi-Fi

That was before Bluetooth and Wi-Fi video casting was built into the device

Still do it that way some times, mainly though it's my laptop connected to the tv via HDMI,

I seen these adapters in my search. Do you have to keep the tablet, phone, or pc screen on while streaming or can you let them go to sleep per say as you watch on the tv?
