I've used Microsoft's Streets and Trips for years, and like it very much. the 2013 version is the last that is going to be available. Do you guys know any other program that will substitute with its features.

Thanks,
Doug

If you find this thread painfully redundant, why didn't you ignore it?

You can buy an updated POI database for S&T ... adds in things like low bridges, excessive grades, rest areas, and heaps of other stuff. I don't know the details, but there's a few companies advertising their wares in uTube videos.

I use Google Maps app on my phone. Like it much better than S&T. One thing I do is verify the routing with a hard map like Motor Carrier's Atlas.

Not familiar with ms streets trips but I used one earlier this year that I was impressed with. It is available off line and you can input your daily start and end times and it will suggest when it is time to find a hotel. I'm sure with all of them there are some things you wish were improved but it was free so can't complain too much.

Newer computer does not speak to my old trusty program. Son works at Microsoft - I said will there be a new one? Answer was no............phone apps work for most people. I think not well for Rvers planning long trips. Goggle Maps allow ten stops so I do trips in pieces. Miss the good old days.

My S&T 2013 with the GPS antenna works great, we will be using it this Sept. for a 3 plus week trip.

What's wrong with the 2013 version? Unless you're needing up to date maps for fast growing urban areas, all the roads that matter are on the 2013 map. All the major points of interest are still in the same spot they were 3 years ago too.

Aggreed.

It's still the best for laying down the basic trip route, quick and easy.
After that you can use many other apps to fill in the gaps.

I still use it. So far laying out long trips, it gets the job done. But the maps are slowly starting to get outdated. Hoping somebody had found something as good.

Thanks,
Doug

Boy, I wish there were one! I've tried a couple of programs but neither comes close to MS S&T. They both have to be online to work and they fall short in usability. I need one for a Mac, now. You'd think someone would step up to the plate but I guess they assume everyone uses their smart phone Google maps. No good for planning long trips and useless offline.
