Suggestions for unlocked hotspot

Looking for a single Mifi hotspot instead of paying data roaming on multiple devices. I'm in Canada and currently use virgin (bell network) at home and roam mobility in the US so an unlocked lte device where I can swap sims would be best.

Short list now is netgear 771 (zing) or 779 models. Thoughts from those who have gone before?

Thanks,

Art

I've got a Bell MiFi 6630 and had it unlocked. I've since switched to a T-Mobile plan and device. I'm looking to sell the 6630 PM me if your interested.
  • Recently was doing some research on this topic..

I was interested in getting T-Mobile for the "unlimited" data..
I could go into a hour long rant about monetizing per byte data and the general expense with phones these days but...I'll spare you.

Anyways I had found this after a quick google search:

    www.cnet.com/topics/networking/best-networking-devices/hot-spot/

I have read CNET for years. It is usually a fairly reliable source of well rounded info.

They usually include whether something will be compatible for roaming (or sim swaps).
  • I have Verizon with the Unlimited Data Plan (the old plan). I use FOXFI app that allows my phone to be a hotspot. My Verizon dealer told me about it.

On another board we'd call this post a "bump your post count" post.
