Surround install options?
So I've been going around and around trying to get audio/video set up in my "new" TT. Trying to decide if I should get a car deck with DVD and feed signal to TV, but worried that single yellow video connection will look decent on a large TV screen.
So, another option I'm considering is a Home Theatre in a box (HTIB), per another poster's suggestion on this site. I looked at them yesterday, but am concerned about the feasibility of fishing wires through my ceiling from front of living room to rear of living room (and one even into slide) for rear speakers. Has anyone had success with that? No walls in the way, just 2-3 ceiling panels to traverse, and there are a few openings in ceiling scattered around for existing speaker and A/C vents...
Another option is to install and forget rear speakers- think it would sound at least okay with just front, center and sub all up near TV? I'm not going for full home theatre on wheels here, just some way to stream music to audio system, watch DVDs, and maybe some FM music occasionally, as well as TV audio when desired. The Sony BDV-E3100 seems to have all those capabilities. Again- just looking for better quality sound from music, and a little more oomph during movies. Full surround not a big deal if it's going to be too much of a nightmare to install.
If I go the HTIB route, I still have to find a way to install the receiver near my entertainment center. My TT has the carousel TV that flips around into front bedroom, so wall depth is minimal, and HTIB receiver won't come close to fitting in any of the provided openings(depth is the issue). So that leaves me with the option of a suspended shelf from ceiling, that has to be tight enough to ceiling for slide to go under it (about 4" ceiling clearance).
Ugh. Sticking a radio and a TV in the empty holes of this repo trailer seemed like no big deal. Then I got on the internet... :)
