Track-star dome sat. antenna?

I have the trac-star sat. antenna, it has to switch satellites from 110 (local) to 119 (dish channels).
I also have a 3ll receiver, old, and now sometimes does not want to work.
My question is: Without changing the Dome Antenna, what are my best options for a new receiver? I would like to stay with Dish network. We have 2 HD TV's and Now only one is connected to the Dish, the other is OTA only, I would like to have a dual receiver that would service both TV's, even though I know I am limited with the Trac-Star Dome Antenna, as it has to switch between Satellites 110 & 119.
I do not have to have all the recording channels or HD. Just a good receiver. We are out of Contract, long ago.
Thanks for any information,
Mytime
  • Thanks for educating me on receivers, my 311 has been doing good until just the last few weeks, sometimes I have to re-boot it every morning. I will look for a 211k, do not want a contract. mytime
  • The Z does not have an OTA TV input option and the coax output is gone as well. It also only has composite output and not component. It's smaller than the K but they took out some key features.

what is the difference between the 211k and the 211z?

  • I would not suggest using a dual tuner or DVR for Dish with a dome. Since the programming comes from multiple satellites and your dome can only see one at a time you are going to run into programming conflicts. I would recommend the Vip211K receiver as the best update as it will allow HD on the one TV it is connected to and their is a SD TV output which you could send to the second TV. If you must be able to watch 2 different channels on 2 different TV's at the same time I would recommend getting 2 - 211K's and using one at each TV. The second receiver will still only be able to watch programming coming from the satellite selected by the first but won't cause the issues that can arise from using a dual tuner box.
  • If you are anywhere near Houston TX, Sats2Go is a great resource for all things satellite. We also have the Tracstar dome but we have DirecTV. Dave at Sats2Go is the satellite "guru"! He is in Willis, TX
