It includes a feature called Do Not Disturb While Driving. Incoming messages are muted and the phone sends out a message that you are driving. People are informed how to get through in an emergency. Passengers can turn off the feature by pressing “I’m not driving.” Do Not Disturb While Driving can also be disabled. Personally I think it’s a great feature.
The ignorants at Apple who believe they are smarter than their average consumer force you to do this EVERY time you get in a vehicle. It is a nusance at best and downright stupid at worst. Making it the default setting is more big brother **** from Apple. Make the default off and allow you to turn it on if YOU want is the right way to go. Not informing people of this really dumb feature or how to deactivate it is just poor business.
Maybe Apple is just trying to keep up with newer Distracted Driving laws! Currently Washington and Oregon have pretty stiff fines for using your phone while driving. It does allow hands free single swipe/touch for navigation or answering an incoming call.
