Tv connection

Have good potential over air signals per my jack signal meter. Unable to get over air or cable stations when I scan on menu of remote for tv. Tv works when watching movie. Suspect hdmi connection or antenna connection. Does getting movie on tv rule out hdmi connection? Called samsung, reset to factory settings, still no channels located. I am on road. Going thru Amarillo this am, any thoughts or suggestions?

First you have to select the OTA antenna at teh Jack Wall plate (yes there is a wall plate, same as the winegard wall plate) if you see signals on the "Sur-Lock" with the wall plate set to cable someting is strange.

Now back down on teh gain on teh Sure lock and peak the signals.> This will not affect antenna gain.

Make sure there is actually a coax cable between the Wall plate and the TV.. This may connect to the rear of the Wall plate.

The crimp on connectors have a way of slipping off on that cable.

And last: I assume from the mention of HDMI which by the way has nothign to do with OTA reception that you have a newer "Wide screen" ATSC compatible TV... If your TV is analog only.. Problem identified.

This is the normal procedure for scanning for OTA channels in a new TV. Connect the antenna via the coaxial cable, make sure the power supply for the antenna is on. Turn on the TV. Click on the INPUT button and select Antenna. Click on menu and find the scan program and click on scan. If no scan, the antenna isn't good.

I'm can only guess that you have a BOMB, you didn't say, so a coax cable from the antenna should be moved to the Antenna In connector, connect the park cable to the Cable In connector and a install a short coax from the Signal Out connector to the signal in on the back of the set. Push the appropriate buttons on the BOMB to have either the cable or the antenna feeding the TV.

As stated before, bypass the BOMB, do not worry about the HDMI cable that is for hooking up the DVD player or if you have it the BluRay DVD player.

There are about 924 thousand schematic diagrams on how to hook up a TV in a motor home you can look at by doing a search. A couple of photographs or clear and concise descriptions of what equipment you have on board would help. We know you have a player of some type, I would guess a DVD player because you have movies going and we know you have an antenna but we don't know about a BOMB. There has to be something that directs either the Antenna or the Park Cable to the set either a BOMB or a A-B switch.

Selecting the correct input is a key factor in getting a signal in.

Is your TV digital?
You said that an HDMI cable is going into your TV. You have to have coax coming from somewhere. Try hooking the coax directly to the TV and scan.

I have the Jack antenna and do have the amplifier push button located on the plate that has the 12V outlet and coax connection.

Not necessarily with the Jack TV antenna.

The TV signal goes to the TV via coax ONLY. Check the back of the TV and ensure that you have a coax plugged in and that it's the one coming from the Jack or the Jack power supply. Forget about using the Cable option on the TV to scan. That will only provide a signal when plugged into campground Cable TV connections.

The antenna should go to the back of the tv and not involve the hdmi cables. So yes , itโ€™s probably in the antenna connections somewhere . You say the antenna meter( which I think is the power inserter) shows a signal so Iโ€™ll assume the amplifier for the jack antenna is on. Remove and check connections and also settings on any signal distribution box ( box of many buttons (BOMB) . Wire temporary cable from the power inserter or meter , the last known source of a good signal, to the tv. If that works the problem is in the cable between.

If you are using the antenna, on the tv remote goto menu then select the antenna input, then scan channels. If on cable select cable input and scan channels.
