DirecTV only advertises what they charge extra for like fights, NFL and pay-per-view. With Internet you can TV Apps and Video-on-Demand (VOD). From what I've seen VOD is low quality unless you want to pay. You can get YouTube and Pandora. By pressing the Active button you can get weather and your horoscope. Yippee! You can also stream media from other sources such as your PC if you setup a media server. I dropped all the premium channels as, for me, there was no longer much there. At matinee prices, I can watch four first run movies a month rather wait last in line for DirecTV. RedBox is good deal too.
For me, I just watch TV. Did recently listen to the music channels in Lassen Nat'l Forest as no FM and Sirius couldn't see through the trees. I can use Roku if I have 4G. I do have an unlimited plan. Paying $700 outright for phone in order to grandfather unlimited data actually pencils pencil out pretty well compared to a $200 upgrade with expensive and limited data.
