You can take your home receiver on the road with either service.
Dish has an RV program - turn service on/off as needed, which is great *if* you don't want to have one or the other at home.
Also an excellent portable, HD, automatic (relatively inexpensive) sat dish for DISH. (Check on "Tailgater")
