Windows 8 is more secure. With its version of BitLocker, I can have it ask for a password on boot, while with Windows 7, I'd either need specialized hardware on the computer motherboard, or have to stick a USB flash drive in.
Plus, with "secure UEFI", if a virus tries to use the boot sector of the hard disk to hide itself, the machine will detect the tampering.
