It is a real possibility that it can. However with that said, I would not worry about it too much. The interference will happen on the 2.4ghz frequency, currently more common and has a limited number of usable channels. Because it is open spectrum a lot of other devices will also contribute to interference, like peoples MIFI hotspots, microwave ovens, TV sets using wireless sharing, wireless printers etc... the list is big. WIFI inherently has error correction built in that will help deal with the interference to a certain degree. The key is that IF you do cause problems for your neighbors, it will simply degrade their thru put a little bit, not make their WIFI completely unusable.
