Wifi Extender Question

Hi there Techies! Have a wifi extender question. We purchased a wifi extender to use on our travels but primarily to boost signal at our kid's house when we are parked in the driveway.

We are now at a small (28 space) RV park with one antenna. Currently the park isn't full and signal is as good as we've ever had with or without the extender, however, I am concerned that when the park does fill up our extender might interfere with the other park clientele's signal. What is the consensus?

    Remember, your computer has to transmit as well as receive. This thread belongs in the Technical forum but basically the park's system will clog no matter what you do or don't do. You will have a 5-bar signal strength but frugal throughput.

    My Alfa wi-fi amp doesn't do anything for reception here but it does force the crummy router to react faster by shouting orders.

    It is a real possibility that it can. However with that said, I would not worry about it too much. The interference will happen on the 2.4ghz frequency, currently more common and has a limited number of usable channels. Because it is open spectrum a lot of other devices will also contribute to interference, like peoples MIFI hotspots, microwave ovens, TV sets using wireless sharing, wireless printers etc... the list is big. WIFI inherently has error correction built in that will help deal with the interference to a certain degree. The key is that IF you do cause problems for your neighbors, it will simply degrade their thru put a little bit, not make their WIFI completely unusable.
