I do not agree with you when you say "it slows down the download/upload speeds by a lot". "Alot" is an over statement. Regardless if one needs WiFi range extended then such a device will do the job. I've installe over a dozen of such devices for various people over the last year or so and all were very please with the WiFi extension and WiFi operation post install.
