I heard this morning on tech news that so many people are disappointed with windows 8 that beginning next year they will be releasing windows 10,I guess 9 must have been a flop.

I just installed it on my Mac Pro with OS X 10.10 Yosemite using Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac.

I think they should have called it Windows XP2.

Now THAT would have been a successful name!

The Windows 10 Tech Preview full .iso download is now available. Note that you may need to be signed into Windows Insider Program. You can use an existing Windows Mail account such as Outlook.com, Live.com, etc.

Also note that this is a preview, not release candidate, primarily orientated toward techies. It may contain glitches and other faults that could effect its usability. You should also install it in an isolated manner to protect your current OS.

Yes, Microsoft announced Windows 10 yesterday. MS never referred to the new OS as Windows 9, that was started by the press. It was referred to as Threshold internally.

MS will make a preview version of the new OS available for download sometime today.

I plan to download it and install it in a VM to test out the new features.

From what I've read and seen 10 looks a lot like 8.1. The focus is to make Windows more consistent across hardware platforms and make the development of applications across platforms easier and quicker. They have acknowledged the metro interface has not been well received by experienced users and will take additional steps to address it. Not being released until 2016 will give them plenty of time to tweak it. Rest assured that the live tiles interface is here to stay.

There is no Windows 9. That was just an assumption of what Microsoft was going to name the successor of Windows 8.
