Wish I had seen the information about the issues earlier

In the past I have placed orders with Camping World and gotten them quickly and efficiently. So as the camping season is starting here in MI, I placed an order about 2 weeks before a trip. With past experience, their website saying 5-7 business days for in stock items to arrive and all my desired items being in stock....I thought I was fine.

My order has now just sat in processing for a week. I got an email with an order number but online my order only has the web reference number.

I called Friday and was told that the order would probably ship on Monday. But still it is still in processing....

I'm on hold today (I sent an email yesterday). Thought I would try early (around 8am) but I have been on hold for almost 30 minutes.

There is now really no chance of getting the items in time.

My credit card was charged right away too. This is just frustrating as my past experiences were good.
  • Just an update...more than a week after canceling the order, nothing. I got an email confirmation on the order cancellation from a Team Lead at Camping World and Elizabeth from the monitors here said they were trying to 'expediate' it. On hold again....

I am almost to the end of the waiting period that my cc requires on canceled orders and then I'll be reporting that charge. With all their order issues, Camping World shouldn't be charging cc until they are ready to ship. They charged me more than 2 weeks ago and I have had to wait more than 2 hours combined on hold....
  • Just in the off chance that Marcus reads any of this drivel, please note that online orders from Camping World are really out of hand. I placed a $250 order on 6/21/15 and today, 9 days later, the only thing that has happened is that Camping World has charged my credit card and taken my money. I have emailed customer service (it doesn't appear the company's employees are able to provide any) twice with no response other than a robotic acknowledgement of receipt. I have also called and listened to messages 1 through 9 about 50 times. I finally did get through to a rep after about 30 minutes on hold, but they also could not offer any resolution. This is why RVers order millions of dollars of related stuff from Amazon--they get their order efficiently and quick.

My recommendation is to stay away from ordering at Camping World.
  • My issue with CW has been mentioned in many posts. It's the incredibly long wait on hold for customer service.
I called last Monday and after 20min of listening to a recorded voice count the number of messages I hung up. By Wednesday I called again and finally had someone answer the phone after 42min. It's really unacceptable service. They are obviously grossly understaffed in their call center.
  • Whats nice about Amazon, especially Prime membership, is the fact that most items, even "small" stuff, gets delivered quickly, with no shipping. Even if it costs a bit more than CW, it's still worth it to not have to go thru any hassle with ordering.
Needed an awning pull strap asap as my old one was about to give out. Yes, CW had one for $4.49 and the one on Amazon, A&E brand was $6.95, but free shipping so it actually came out cheaper than CW. Ordered 2 of em and had them two days later.
This was 3 weeks ago---CW would probably still have them in "processing".
Some of the products are not elegible for "Prime" as they come from an outside vendor or the manufacturer, but many are still offered with free shipping---may take an extra few days, but so what.

  • It's been a couple of years since I last ordered from CW online but we always received our items rather promptly. Unfortunately, we ceased ordering from them due mostly to their high prices and over the top shipping charges.

I have read of their recent woes pertaining to online orders and hope they resolve your issue asap. Maybe you can get the items you ordered locally or from another online retailer before you leave and return the items ordered to one of the CWs located in Michigan whenever they do arrive for a refund.

You can type into google search just about any item you will find at Camping World and add the word AMAZON... Works for us...

Amazon is good for most things. However, we have come across some items that were not Prime shippable and didn't have a 2 day shipping either. You just have to pay attention and shop around.
  • In the past, I've never seen the order status change from "Processing" to "shipped" with CW ever. But the items normally arrived rather quickly. It's probably been a couple years since I've ordered from them online though.
