youtube acting weird

Click For Full-Size Image.

page opens normal then everything shifts to the left
NO scroll bar at bottom of browser page
looks like some kind of 'formatting' error in the website coding

this started about 24hrs ago .. aka .. Saturday afternoon

i have updated Firefox, i have rebooted the laptop Win 8.1

there have been NO updates to Windows or the PC before this started

this is only on youtube, no other sites i visit have been affected

anybody else have this problem
  • yes it opens in explorer .. (i don't have edge or chrome) on this PC
the page is formatted differently, but not messed up sliding left half page in the frame
  • Isn't You Tube owned by Google? I have no problem while using Google seeing You Tube.
  • It looks like you're logged into possible google or gmail. Two things I would try.

First it looks like it's trying to display something but it's hanging. After the page loads try pressing the F5 key on your keyboard to reload the page. Does it do anything differently?

Or try logging out of your google account and see if it behaves differently.
  • Mr. Wizard,

a few things I would try.
    1. clear the cache in firefox (and I'm assuming it's the most current version).
    2. Try a different browser and see if it renders 'normally' in that one (doesn't Win 8.1 have IE still as part of the Operating system?).
    3. let us know if it clears it out for you.

I'm using firefox on a macbook (2010) and it's working fine. My gut tells me that somehow you danced on your keyboard and changed something in Firefox. There is a full reset of firefox you can do as well to help 'reset' everything as it should be.

  • logged out and back in of both youtube and gmail several hours ago,
    and nothing changed

but i just tried youtube again, and now it is displaying properly

    gremlins i tell you .. Gremlins !
  • Hi MrWizard,

Next time you have an issue try using "private mode"

    To toggle that try Ctrl/Shift/P

Then try the program that is causing issues.
  • I use a Lenovo AIO computer running Edge, W10. I have the You Tube apps which always works just fine.

Same said for watching You Tube in 4K (converted from 2D to 3D) on my Samsung 3D UHD television.
