By golly you're right.. thanks. So we have indeterminate MPG when sitting still.

Winter has dragged on far too long for some of you.:)

Doubt if they are in the N American market yet but the Fiat diesel Bs would be very good. Don't expect any dazzling performance in the mountains.

RV milage is good compared to boats where very often owners are talking in terms of how many gallons they burn up in one mile. Was out on a boat with 2 225hp outboards. WOT that thing was sucking 30gph. Imagine that! a gallon burned every 2 minutes & you are only doing about 40mph.

A slow moving cruising 65' motoryacht at best speed, maybe 10mph, will get maybe a gallon & a half per mile in smooth seas.

New rules; zero divided by zero is one

Actually, zero divided by zero is indeterminate. Any other number divided by zero is undefined.

My Class B (6L gas engine) gets 19 mpg on open flat highway (no stops). I get an average of 16-18 on general highway driving, 14-15 local driving. The only RV that will do slightly better (at a higher cost for fuel) is a Diesel Sprinter Class B.

Yeah. Or a moped and tarp-on-a-rope.

I'd agree.

I have a 21 foot full height/width TT I've towed around with a small diesel SUV. First a Jeep Libby CRD, now a BMW X5 35d, when towing, I get around 14 average at 60 mph. Worst tank, 9 into a 50 mph headwind; best tank 18 with a strong tailwind.

21 ft full height and width 21 foot TT I tow with a 2013 Touareg TDI AWD SUV that weighs a full 5000 pounds. 57-58 MPH yields 16.5 to 19.5 MPG's on 4 trips from L.A. to Yellowstone, 500 to 550 miles per day.

31 to 34-35 MPG's when empty, 31 mostly city, 34 -35, all interstate. Most of CA freeways have a speed limit of 65, so that's about the speed I travel when on the freeways.

Bottom line - if fuel consumption is a major issue for you, maybe the RV lifestyle isn't where you should be. There aren't many large, comfortable RV's that get better than 12 mpg. Our '02 32-foot Class A got a consistent 7.8. Our previous 1985 26' Class C (Ford 460 with carburetor) got 6 at sea level and 4.5 at altitude. There's a lot of altitude around here!

My 06 corolla 5 speed gets 35 mpg every fillup whether I drive like a madman or coast on the highway. My dad had good reports about a pontic vibe too. But pulling a trailer and getting more than me unloaded? Sounds fishy. My girlfriends newer vibe wasnt getting as much as my corolla, unlesd an aerodynamic advantage can be had from pulling a trailer

This thread is great! I am impressed that some people get 14mpg from actual MHs, and shocked at how much class Bs vary.

Probably not a motorized RV by your definition, but I met a lady with a teardrop trailer pulled by a Toyota Echo, who was averaging 35 MPG. (For the non-believer, my Echo gets 43 highway if I can get non-alcohol gas.)

Put me in the non-believer class...or maybe that was combined average towing and not towing (yes, I understand what tear drops are and they are better but not that much better)

No, that is accurate. Personal experience.
