Also do the math genny uses 1/2 gallon of gas per hour that is 4 gallons of gas for a 8 hour night at $3.50 per gallon that is $28.00 dollars. In addition unless you use a genny tube to get the exhaust gas up high and you are running it around tents it can and has been lethal for the tent occupants.

don't forget something like the "Gen-Turi" to get the generator exhaust fumes up in the air away from the MH.

The campground we frequent has gen hours of 8 am to 8 pm, and the rule on the noisy "construction" generators, is that they "can only be run for short periods". That is vague, yes, but I have seen the rangers get on people who ran them for several hours, and then they only ran them less than an hour at a time. Another campground we go to, noisy generators are prohibited completely.

I have seen campgrounds with hours of only 3 or 4 hours for generator running. It varies so much, you need to check the rules at each place.

We have two of these we bought for our Samoyed for summer dog activities, now they are both in the RV :)

I bought a MH to be comnfortable and thereby want to run my AC when I am hot. So I get sites with electric. If I wanted remote with no utils I would have bought a tent. Just sayin'

That's pretty much the story around here. If the CG has any sites with hookups then gennies are a no-no. They figure that you have the option of renting the hookup site, so if you choose not to do so then they don't want the noise of a generator disturbing your neighbors.

Having worked in state parks for 14 years, the rule usually has been that if there is 30 amp service, than no generators. Quiet hours are usually 10 pm to 7 am. No open bottles (you didn't ask but).

We use a pair of Fantastic Fans. Open the windows, turn them on, enjoy the cool night breeze coming in.

O2 makes a nice, 10" battery operated fan. You can get them at Walmart for around $20. They are the best battery operated fans I've found. I keep them on hand at home for when the elec goes out, and I use them spring and fall, if we camp w/o full hookups. In the heat of summer, hookups are a must, to have the a/c.

If you don't already have one, consider getting a little 12 volt circulating fan for really hot nights. Ours is a clip-on, and we put it on a hinged counter that swings up to lock in place. May come in handy when no hookups available.

On typical warm summer nights, though, we just open the small windows, open the overhead vent, turn on the Fantastic Fan (brand name for overhead square vent fan). Most of the time, that cools things down extremely well. Quite often, one of us will even turn off the fan sometime during the night.

Most places we've been (humid or dry areas equally) may be up in the 90s or higher by day, but cool down dramatically at night. So we actually have never needed to run the AC at night even when we're plugged in.
